This past weekend, Chef Jake Wood, owner of Lawrence Barbecue in Durham, NC, traveled to Wilmington to serve up some outstanding barbecue out of End of Days Distillery’s new Concept Kitchen Co. Starting Friday, Chef Jake stayed up all night to deliver his delicious menu to our guests. His hard work paid off with lines starting before opening, then proceeding to sell out of all the food before close both Saturday AND Sunday. With smokers and ember pits set up in the parking lot, this immersive experience left customers, staff, and anyone who was able to get a whiff of this food satisfied.

About Chef Jake

Jake Wood is the Chef/Owner of Lawrence Food Co. located in Durham, NC which consists of Lawrence BBQ, Lagoon Leisure Bar, and now Leroy’s Tacos n Beer. Growing up in Apex, NC, food was always a part of the conversation in the Wood household. Taking great influence from his Papa Allen Lawrence & Granny Helen, Jake found his passion for barbecuing and perfecting family recipes. After graduating high school in 2005 and taking a few college courses, Wood knew that his passion was cooking and would be the career path he sought.

Chef Jake and the Lawrence Food Co team’s hard work has not gone unnoticed, receiving recognition from Southern Living as one of the “Best New Barbecue Joints in The South”, and from Durham Magazine as “Best Barbecue in Bull City”. Chef Jake also sources his oysters locally from our friends over at N.Sea Oyster Company which were a huge hit this weekend as well. Thank you Chef Jake and your awesome team, hopefully we will see a location down in Wilmington one day!
